Features

Everything Tipfolio does, and why.

Tipfolio is deliberately small. Every screen below exists because a tipped worker needs it in a specific moment — closing out, picking up a shift, filing a return, or proving what they earn.

Logging

Ten seconds, or it doesn't get done.

Every tip-tracking app dies the same way: it asks for too much at 1 AM. Tipfolio opens straight onto a custom keypad with your job, wage, hours and tip-out rule already filled in from last time.

  • Big one-thumb keys, well above the 44pt minimum — not the system keyboard.
  • A live "≈ $/hr" readout as you type, so you see the shift's real rate before you save.
  • Cash/card split on a slider. The two always sum to exactly what you typed.
  • Overnight shifts handled properly — an end time before the start means it crossed midnight.
  • A nightly reminder at 11:30 PM that opens directly into the keypad, and softens itself if you already logged.

Insights screen: real hourly rate, average by night, and the best shift.

Insights

Which nights are actually worth it.

Everything is computed on your device from your own shifts. There is no model, no server, and no guessing — where there isn't enough evidence for a claim, Tipfolio hides the card rather than filling it with a number it can't stand behind.

  • Your true hourly rate, blended correctly across shifts — not an average of averages.
  • Average take-home by night of the week, so "Thursdays are your money nights" is a fact, not a feeling.
  • Month-over-month trend compared like for like: this month to date against the same days of last month.
  • Every suggestion shows its evidence — "from your last 32 shifts, computed on-device".

Tax Center

The record, not just the total.

A pile of numbers is not a tax record. What makes a log credible is that each entry was made at the time — and that any later correction is visible rather than painted over.

  • Qualified tips tracked against the $25,000 annual cap, with raw and capped figures shown separately.
  • A tax-year switcher — all figures and exports scope to the year you pick.
  • W-2 reconciliation with a ±2% tolerance, so you check your employer's number against your own before you file.
  • Your Treasury Tipped Occupation Code, surfaced where you need it.
  • Entries made long after the shift are flagged, not hidden. An honest record survives scrutiny; a tidy one doesn't.

Tipfolio helps you keep records. It is not tax advice. Consult a qualified tax professional and verify current IRS rules before filing.

And the rest

The parts you'll need twice a year.

Closeout scan

Point the camera at your register slip and the shift fills itself in. Recognition runs on your iPhone with Apple's Vision framework — the photo is never uploaded, and is discarded once parsed. Every field it read is shown editable, next to the line it came from, with low-confidence values marked. It never saves silently.

Exports that hold up

A filing-ready daily report as PDF or CSV, with the entry timestamp on every line, the year's summary, the cap stated alongside the deductible figure, and the disclaimer on the document itself. A full year paginates rather than clipping.

Proof of income

A clean statement for any period — total earnings, monthly average, shift count, hours and average rate — for landlords, lenders and visa applications. Labelled as self-reported, because that is what it is.

Multiple jobs

Two restaurants and a catering gig, each with its own wage and tip-out rule, all aggregating into one tax year. Delete a job and its shifts survive, keeping the job name they were logged under.

Encrypted backup

Optional, off by default. An AES-GCM archive written to your iCloud Drive, with the key in your iCloud Keychain. Restores carry your original entry timestamps across exactly — a restore that re-stamped them would quietly downgrade your record.

Accessibility

Full Dynamic Type support up to the largest sizes, VoiceOver labels on every control, an audio-graph description of the weekday chart, and status never conveyed by colour alone.

Free to log. Forever.

Logging, insights and the nightly reminder cost nothing and always will. Pro is there for the fortnight a year you need paperwork.
